The position
As a Safety Engineer at agap2, you take on the challenge within an international environment with a local focus. Key Responsibilities
You will be a key player in supporting the Region in preventing and mitigating Major Event Hazards that pose risks to personnel, assets, the environment, and the company’s reputation.
You will act as the Process Safety focal point for both offshore and onshore teams, with primary focus in Guyana but providing support to other regions as needed.
You will play a vital role in promoting strong process Safety leadership, embedding a positive safety culture, and ensuring best practices across operations.
- Promote and develop the Process Safety Culture through PSM campaigns, awareness sessions, and targeted training.
- Deploy Process Safety training programs and communication campaigns.
- Monitor and verify Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC) reporting and volume calculations.
- Perform trend analysis on LOPC and Process Safety Observation
- Chair regular meetings with offshore PSM Champions and foster active PSM community engagement.
- Promote understanding and improvement of Major Accident Hazard (MAH) Scenarios and BowTie diagrams.
- Monitor the health of MAH barriers and advise barrier owners on mitigation measures.
- Verify Safety Critical Procedures and Human Performance Standards.
- Support updates and validations of Safety Cases, Performance Standards, and assurance activities.
- Facilitate and follow-up on risk assessments including HAZID, HAZOP, and Operational Risk Assessments (ORA).
- Support Quantitative Risk Analyses (QRA), dispersion studies, and Formal Safety Assessment revalidations.
What you bring to the position
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent strong technical/operational experience with relevant Process Safety qualifications.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Oil & Gas or FPSO operations.
- Additional qualifications in HSSE, Quality Management, or Sustainability are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and best practices.
- Proven experience facilitating risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, ORA).
- Upstream Oil & Gas processing experience, including knowledge of Fire & Gas systems.
- Competency in incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies.
- Familiarity with BowTie diagrams and Barrier Management practices.
