The position
As a Pipeline Engineer at agap2, you take on the challenge within an international environment with a local focus. Key Responsibilities
As an independent Pipeline Engineer, you will be an integral member of project teams within the OTWP department, focusing on the design, evaluation, and implementation of underground transport pipelines. Your work will span multiple project phases—from scope definition and detailed engineering to execution and aftercare—primarily in the southern part of the Netherlands.
This is a high-impact role that demands both deep technical expertise and strong coordination skills. You will work closely with external engineering firms, ensuring their work aligns with internal standards and regulatory requirements while contributing to Gasunie’s mission of driving the energy transition.
- Design and develop valve diagrams and pipeline systems (both new construction and modifications)
- Assess and review technical designs and documentation from third-party engineering firms
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, such as NEN 3650/3651
- Lead and coordinate technical decisions within project teams
- Provide engineering input during multidisciplinary project meetings
- Promote safety, sustainability, and quality throughout all project phases
What you bring to the position
- Education: HBO or WO degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
- Experience: 5–8 years of experience as a Pipeline Engineer in new construction and/or renovation projects
- Proven ability to review and evaluate engineering designs from external partners
- Strong knowledge of applicable technical standards (e.g. NEN 3650/3651) and regulatory frameworks
- Familiar with onshore pipeline construction techniques, route analysis, soil mechanics, and settlement calculations
- Experience with SAP (PM/MM), GIS systems, and materials related to natural gas, hydrogen, CO₂, and thermal energy
- Strong communication skills and decision-making abilities in technical and multidisciplinary environments
